Last Day in Vers

Front door of our apartment

We ran across one of these ancient shelters (a "Capitelle") on the path to the Quarry
We took one last walk through Vers today, taking the longer trail by the quarries.  It's believed that the quarries date back to the Romans, and are possibly the reason that the Pont du Gard was built here.  In any case, stone has been cut from them for hundreds of years.  They are still operating today, and it's possible to find stone from them in nearly every home in the village.
